What's your opinion about childless couples?

Melissa : What's your opinion about childless couples? Will you choose to have no kids?
Nikki : To be honest, I wouldn't.
Melissa : Why? Do you have to make a choice now?
Nikki : Not really. But it has puzzled me for a long time.
Melissa : What's the puzzle?
Nikki : My husband and I prefer to have no kids, but my mother-in-law is very traditional and wants
grandkids.
Melissa : Oh, I see. I think the older generation tends to think in a different way.
Nikki : Yes. It seems she can never accept a childless marriage. We had a fight last night.
Melissa : Oh, really? Maybe she is just eager to see her grandchildren.
Nikki : But it's absolutely our own business to have a child or not.
Melissa : Definitely.
Nikki : You know, I often overhear our neighbor, the young couple, fighting about how to raise their kid
and I really don't want kids to spoil our happiness.
Melissa : Don't worry. I think in most cases, children are the glue that keeps a family together.
Nikki : I guess you're right. But I still prefer to have no child.
Melissa : Sure. You can fully enjoy your time together.

The pollution levels were so high.

Kate : The air quality in this city is horrendous! The pollution levels were so high that we all need to
wear a face mask when we go outside.
Mike :
Exhaust fumes from vehicles cause a great deal of damage to the environment.
Kate :
On top of that, there are a few large chemical factories in the suburbs, which are contributing to
the high pollution levels in the water and the air in this city.
Mike : As much as I love this city, I think I'm going to have to find a
greener city to live in. Living in a
polluted city like this just can't be good for my health.
Kate : I know what you mean. However, there are so few places left that have not been affected
by
global warming. If it's not the pollution, then it's the natural disasters, deforestation, or the greenhouse effect.
Mike : What is the greenhouse effect exactly?
Kate : It's the gradual rise in the earth's temperature.
Mike : I see, so it's similar to global warming?
Kate : They're related to one another, yes.
Mike : I heard that some people in England are pleased with the fact that the
climate is becoming
warmer because it's making their towns a more pleasant place to live.
Kate : People joke about the benefits of the increase in temperature, but it's not all good news. They've
been experiencing a lot of deadly storms there as well.
Mike : People always seem to make jokes as a way to deal with unfortunate situations.
Kate : I think if everyone
pitches in, the world will be a better place.
