Michael : It seems that the whole world has gone Christmas mad! 
Billy : Why do you say that, Michael?
Michael : Everywhere I look, I see Christmas decorations, and everywhere I go I hear Christmas carols! 
Billy : Well, decorations and carols are two important things of the Christmas festival.
Michael : What about Christmas cards? Have you sent yours yet? 
Billy : You know that I am always well organized. I bought cards in July, arranged my address book in
September, wrote the cards in November and posted them two weeks ago. 
Michael : What about your Christmas shopping? I bet you have not finished that yet! 
Billy : I did all of that in July during the sales, so I could save a fortune. 
Michael : I have so much more to learn!

麥克：似乎整個世界都在為聖誕節瘋狂！
比莉：為什麼這麼說呢？麥克？
麥克：我到哪看到的都是聖誕飾品，去哪聽到的都是聖誕歌。
比莉：聖誕飾品跟聖誕歌是聖誕節兩個重要的東西呢。
麥克：那聖誕卡片呢？妳的聖誕卡寄出了嗎？
比莉：你知道我做事一向條理分明。我在七月的時候買了卡片，九月時整理我的通訊錄，十一月時，寫好卡片，兩個星期前我已經寄出囉！
麥克：那聖誕禮物的採買呢？我敢說妳還沒去買。
比莉：我在七月大特價的時候，就全都買完了，所以我還省了一筆錢呢。
麥克：我要學的太多了！

How was your date? 你的約會如何？

Steve : Mary, how was your date with John?
Mary : It's ok. It seems we have a lot in common. 
Steve : Oh, really. That is great news. What does he look like? 
Mary : He is tall and slim, fair-haired. 
Steve : That sounds like he is pretty cute. What do you think of him? 
Mary : He is a nice guy and very considerate. I was impressed with how smart he was and he has a
great sense of humor. 
Steve : Oh, it's love at first sight. When will you see each other again? 
Mary : He didn't say, but he said he would call me. 
Steve : Maybe he is busy with his work. Just wait and try not to think about it too much! 
Mary : Oh, Steve. Stop it! I am a bit nervous! What if he doesn't call? 
Steve : Come on, Mary, you're a total catch. I bet he will call you. Don't worry. 
Mary : Thank you, Steve. You're always so encouraging. 
Steve : That's what friends are for.

史蒂夫：瑪麗，你和約翰的約會怎麼樣？ 
瑪麗：還可以。我們好像很投緣。 
史蒂夫：真的嗎？太好了。他長的怎麼樣？
瑪麗：他身材高挑，金黃色的頭髮。 
史蒂夫：聽起來他很帥，那你對他感覺怎麼樣啊？ 
瑪麗：人不錯，非常體貼，我對他的聰明及幽默感到印象深刻。 
史蒂夫：喔！看來你是一見鍾情了，下次什麼時候見面啊？
瑪麗：他沒說，不過他說會給我打電話。 
史蒂夫：也許他工作比較忙，等等吧，試著別一直想人家啊！ 
瑪麗：喔！史蒂夫，我有一點緊張，如果他不打電話來怎麼辦呢？ 
史蒂夫：別擔心，瑪麗，你這麼棒，我保證他會打電話的，別擔心。 
瑪麗：謝謝你，史蒂夫，你總是這麼鼓勵我。 
史蒂夫：我們是朋友嘛。

You are getting married. 你要結婚了。

Sylvia : Hi, Elle. I haven't seen you in ages! I heard that you and Teddy are getting married on August
8th, the opening day of the 2008 Olympic Games. Is it true?
Elle : Yes, it is. We've been dating for over 7 years. We have decided to get married on a special day
and we think August 8th, 2008 is a red-letter day. 
Sylvia : Good for you! It sounds like you've done a lot of planning in a very short time. 
Elle : Yes, there is a lot of to be taken care of - wedding photos, wedding dress, catering, transport,
hotel, etc. 
Sylvia : Is everything ready now? 
Elle : Almost. The only thing that isn't ready is the hotel. As a lot of people have chosen that day to get
married, it is hard to find a hotel that isn't too expensive. 
Sylvia : Have you tried the Grand Hyatt Taipei? My wedding reception was held there and they did an
excellent job.
Elle : Yes, we called, but it is booked up. The only choice is the Regent Taipei but we haven't made up
our minds yet. 
Sylvia : It's an excellent hotel. A friend of mine had her wedding reception there and said it was perfect,
though very expensive. 
Elle : That's why we want to have a look at other hotels. We don’t want to spend too much on
an extravagant wedding reception. 
Sylvia : I guess you're right. I can help you ask other hotels. I am sure there are probably some
available. 
Elle : Thank you. 
Sylvia : My pleasure.

希維亞：嗨，愛爾，好久沒看到妳了！聽說妳和泰迪預計8月8日，也就是2008年奧運會的開幕日結婚，是真的嗎？ 
愛爾：嗯，是真的。我們交往7年了，決定選個特別的日子結婚，2008年8月8日是個大好日子。 
希維亞：真是太好了！看來你們要在很短的時間內準備很多事情。 
愛爾：是啊，要處理很多事，拍結婚紗照、選婚紗、擺酒席，安排車輛、住房等。 
希維亞：都準備好了嗎？ 
愛爾：差不多了，就剩飯店了。因為那天有很多人結婚，很難找到價格合適的飯店。
希維亞：你找過台北君悅飯店了嗎？我的婚宴就在那裡辦的，他們辦得很好。 
愛爾：有，打過電話了，但是已經訂滿了，就只剩下台北麗晶酒店了，但我們還沒決定。 
希維亞：那是間很棒的酒店啊！我有個朋友就在那辦婚宴，聽說很完美，只是價格稍微貴了點。 
愛爾：所以我們想再看看其他間。我們不想在婚宴上太鋪張。
希維亞：說的也是，我可以幫你問問其他飯店，肯定還有一些沒被預訂光。 
愛爾：謝謝你。
希維亞：別客氣。
